Privacy

This site is operated by a. Contact: contact@boardbylink.com. It is designed to work without accounts and without collecting personal data.

What is stored on the server

• The contents of boards you choose to share: team or player names, scores, settings and a title. Please use names or nicknames, not email addresses or phone numbers. Everything on a shared board is visible to anyone who has its view link.
• The board's edit key, because the server has to recognize it when an edit link is opened. Treat the edit link itself as the board's only password: anyone who has it can change the board.
• A salted hash of the network address that created a board, used only to limit abuse. The address itself is not stored.
• Standard web-server logs (address, time, requested page), kept briefly for security and troubleshooting.

What is stored in your browser

The score of a board you have not shared, the list of boards you created with their links, and your settings are kept in your browser's local storage. What is on a board is not sent anywhere until you tap “Share live”. The site sets no cookies and shows no ads.

Visit counter

We count visits and which tools are used with Umami, an open-source counter that runs on this site's own server: no outside service receives anything. It uses no cookies and does not store your network address. For each visit it keeps the page (with any utm_ campaign tags in its address), the page you came from, your browser, operating system and device type, screen size, language and approximate location (country, region and city); to tell one visitor from another it uses an anonymous code derived from your network address and browser details, renewed every month. When you use a scoreboard it records only the kind of action, such as that a basketball scoreboard was used or shared live. It never records team or player names, scores, titles or board links: the private view and edit links are replaced with a placeholder before anything is sent, and page titles are not sent at all.

Retention

Shared boards that nobody opens for 30 days are deleted. You can also overwrite what is on a board at any time with the edit link; Reset clears the scores and keeps the names.

Removal

If a shared board contains something that should not be public, contact the operator with the link and it will be removed. Contact: contact@boardbylink.com.

Your rights

The operator is a private person in Estonia, so EU data-protection rules apply. Because no accounts exist, the only personal data that can identify you is what you type on a board; you can overwrite it yourself with the edit link, or ask the operator to remove the board.
